Languages Spoken in Lithuania

The official language is Lithuanian which is spoken by approximately 3 million people. Lithuanian is a Baltic language that derives from the Indo-European group of languages.

In some areas of Lithuania people also speak Polish and Russian. Polish is spoken by about 6% of the population and Russian is spoken by about 8% of the population of Lithuania.

Outside of Lithuania, a large number of people in Poland speak Lithuanian.

English is spoken widely within Lituania and it has been estimated that 80% of young people in Lithuania speak English fluently.
