Day Awards 2022

Partnership with Day Translations. The Day Awards are back in 2022 and, dare we say it, bigger and better.

Started in 2019, the awards are a joyous occasion to celebrate the present and future of the language industry on 30th September, International Translation Day. The event is broadcast as a live stream on YouTube and can be watched back on Day Translation’s channel.

Looking back at 2019 and the first year of the awards, the winners included SDL Trados for best CAT software, Resident Evil 2 for best localised game and ATLANTIS for best subtitles.

Last year, in 2021, winners included Smartcat for best CAT, Resident Evil Village Capcom for best localised game and Vancouver Media for best subtitles (they are the company behind the subtitles for La Casa de Papel, the hit series from Spain).

Alongside these awards, as well as a recognition of Day Translations’ top performing staff members for their dedication, this year categories will include:

  • Best 2022 TV show subtitled
  • Best Movie 2022 subtitled
  • Best 2022 videogame localised (translated)
  • Best book 2022 translated.

Is there a book, for example, that you thought was perfectly captured in a language different from the original? My vote goes for ‘The Travelling Cat Chronicles’ by Hiro Arikawa and you can read more about it in this previous post.
